The Yamaha YHR-672 is a current-production professional F/Bb full double horn with a Kruspe-style wrap. Current variants cover yellow brass or nickel silver and fixed or detachable bells, making the suffix important: 672 and 672D are yellow-brass versions, while 672N and 672ND are nickel-silver versions.

The 672 sits below the Custom-series YHR-872 as Yamaha's more accessible modern Kruspe. It is often compared with the Conn 8D, older Yamaha 668/668II models, and the 872; buyers looking for the biggest, darkest Kruspe sound should compare it directly with an 8D-style horn and the 872 on the same mouthpiece setup.

Core specs include a 12.0 mm / .472 inch bore, LL extra-large bell, four solid rotors, string action, clear lacquer finish, HR-32D4 mouthpiece, and included case. The current design uses a leadpipe concept derived from Yamaha's YHR-862 Custom horn, aimed at stable intonation and an open, responsive feel.

For schools and advancing students, the 672 is a serious step-up/professional option rather than a basic intermediate horn. It is a strong alternative when Conn 8D availability, ergonomics, or consistency are concerns, though left-hand fit and sound preference still need a play test.
